Gorgeous midcentury style sculptural wicker chaise made in Indonesia by Pier 1 Imports, c.2000. Widely touted by dealers as "1970s Italian", this chaise definitely has the aesthetic—and we'd believe the claims too had we not found this tagged and dated example. In any case, this stunning and long-discontinued design is sought-after and highly collectible. The perfect marriage of dramatic curves and natural materials, this piece exemplifies "organic modern" design while its tapered legs give a nod to MCM. In excellent vintage condition with a small, non-structural break in the rattan, and some residue on the seat. Bamboo arms are shiny and sturdy.
