Iconic and collectible saucer Bubble Lamp designed by George Nelson and manufactured by Howard Miller Clock Company in the 1950s. Herman Miller acquired the design in the 1960s and manufactures these to this day, and companies like Modernica also started reproducing them along the way. First releases from Howard Miller are incredibly rare and sought-after by collectors and designers. According to designer Jonathan Adler, "it's an atomic take on a Japanese paper lantern, and most important, the honeyed light it emits is ultra flattering." With a light steel frame and ivory polymer body, this icon of the atomic era indeed emits a beautiful warm glow, and would be perfect as an overhead reading lamp hung from a simple ceiling hook. Comes with a 17 foot cord with American plug and concealed chain, making this piece as versatile as it is beautiful. In excellent vintage condition with original label, no tears, one minor stain, and ultra light rusting to the frame.
